This beautiful rug was sourced in the area of Aït Bouguemez, Azilal, Morocco. It is a real vintage, handmade Azilal rug with signs of age but I have always loved a neutral Azilal rug with unregular and vibrant pattern.
This one shows a traditional, freeform lozenge network, intricated in 3 larger ones. The main background color is an undyed beige with black designs. The addition of bright yellow on one ending makes it a unique version of the classical Azilal rug. Such a nice piece if you ask me!
The rug is made of a very soft sheep wool on a cotton base in a surprising red color (see the back of the rug on the close-up shot). Low to medium pile.
Pictures were taken in my bright and all white studio in Marrakech. They have been edited but colors are accurate. Please take time to check all detailed pictures, so you can see the beautiful work on this rug!
