Bringing you something a little different this time! I sourced this breathtaking statement piece from a vintage market in Marrakech, Morocco, and despite it is not what I usually select for my shop SHKOON, I could not leave it behind!

Measuring an impressive 9.4x15.2ft / 288x465cm, this oversized vintage rug will redefine any space, bringing a luxurious texture and a subtle, shifting sheen that dances beautifully under changing light. This piece beautifully marries classical heritage with a contemporary silken touch, featuring a majestic central medallion surrounded by intricate traditional motifs of flowers, blooming vases and graceful birds. The palette is sophisticated and shows a muted sage green contrasted by rich navy blue borders and vibrant terracotta accents, also with warm golden yellows.

This rug is made of premium Viscose (offering a fluid drape and high-end silk effect). It was machine-woven, probably in the late 20th century, and captures the intricate precision of traditional hand-knotted designs with a fluid, silken contemporary drape.

Pictures were taken in the courtyard of my studio in Marrakech, so I could show it to you in natural light. They have been edited but colors are accurate. Please take time to check all detailed pictures, so you can see the condition and beautiful work on this rug!

Condition

This rug is real vintage, meaning that it will come with signs of age due to its previous life. The main thing to notice is a small damage at a fringe (see close-up shot). That said the rug was very well taken care of and is in a great condition, showing no stains, holes or obvious fixes.

Care guide

Viscose is a delicate fiber that requires thoughtful care to preserve its beautiful luster. Vacuum regularly on a low-suction setting without a rotating brush attachment to clear dust. Blot spills instantly with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid water and rubbing, as moisture can alter the texture of viscose fibers. Professional rug cleaning is recommended for stubborn stains.
