I sourced this rug during a recent trip in the Ait Bouguemez Valley, High Atlas, Morocco. I had the chance to meet the maker of this rug, called "Mama" who was washing it in the river down from her village (see picture attached).

It is a bright rug made of wool and cotton threads knotted on a cotton base. The pattern is an unregular grid mostly in yellow and black over a beige background (nautral wool color) with also blue, green, red, orange...

Its small size makes it the perfect versatile you can move around the house, from the entryway to the bathroom or the kitchen.

Pictures were taken in my bright and all white studio in Marrakech. They have been edited but colors are accurate. Please take time to check all detailed pictures, so you can see the beautiful work of this rug!

The rug has not been cut and is in its original shape.

Condition

This rug is real vintage, meaning that it was made first for a private use, not directly for the market. It will come with signs of wear, like some worn spots in pile. Despite its rustic look, the rug is in lovely condition, shows no stains or obvious repairs.

Care guide

You can vacuum your rug from time to time. If you happen to pour something on your rug, use a little bit of soft detergent and warm water, let it dry and then brush gently.
