These green ceramics are made in a village of potters called Tamegroute, South Morocco. They are made out of white clay craftmen find in the area and work with to make beautiful, artful pieces. The unregluar color comes from the glaze that includes a fractional amount of copper. After being cooked in the oven at super high temperature, it becomes green just like magic!
This plate here is a large piece you can use as a fruit or cake plate for example. With it's pedestal, it is a very elegant decor item by itself!
The diameter is approximately 20inches / 51cm. Height including pedestal is 6inches / 15cm so is diameter of the round base of the pedestal. Weight of the plate is approximately 15pounds / 7kilos.
This item is handmade 100%. It will come with light irregularities like thin cracks that add to the charm. In the center of the plate, 3 imperceptible marks come from the way the ceramics are stacked in the oven (see picture #7). Again the item is all handmade the traditional way and is in great condition overall!
