This beautiful vintage Beni Mguild rug is a great find! The main background color is a light brown with intricate designs in navy blue, yellowish and magenta. The composition -which is trypical of this tribe- is made of two separated, symetrical chevron series with tiny rectangles, arrows and crosses that make the rug so vibrant!
This handmade rug definitely is a unique piece of berber art!
The rug is made of wool 100% and is a low pile to flatweave. The colors are original and have not been artificially faded.
Approximate dimensions are 5.8x6.8feet / 177x208cm (+tiny tassels). The rug has been cut in length. It is quite unusual to find almost square vintage moroccan rugs.
PLEASE NOTE again that this rug is vintage, meaning that it's been made first for private use, not directly for the market. It will come with signs of wear, which makes it unique and charming. The rug shows obvious fixes (see pictures #7 and 8) a few worn spots in pile (picture #9) and comes with brand new borders. It is not a new rug but a rug with character!
