This lovely vintage rug was sourced in the village of Aït Bouguemez, High Atlas, Morocco, located in an area called the Happy Valley. I particularly love the imperfect symetrical composition of this azilal rug with a central series of diamonds, known as a traditional feminine symbol, with the 2 "ladders" on each side which are a recurrent masculine symbol. A few "floating" tiny designs add some rhythm to the whole rug. The main background color is a beige (undyied wool color) with black, green, yellow and orange designs (and a touch of blue).
The rug is made of wool and cotton threads on a cotton base. It is a medium pile.
Approximate dimensions are 4.3x5.8feet / 132x177cm. Due to the handmade weaving work, the rug is not perfectly rectangle, like most of the real vintage moroccan rugs. It has not been cut and comes in its original shape. Its small size makes it the perfect versatile you can move around the house, from the entryway to the bathroom or the kitchen.
Please note that this small rug is real vintage, meaning that it's been made first for private use, not directly for the market. It will come with signs of wear like some worn spots in pile. That said, the rug has been fixed and cleaned and is in great vintage condition!
