Unique vintage amazigh artwork - mounted on chassis, henna dyed - 3.7x8.2feet / 114x250cm

I sourced this vintage textile in a small village near Taznakht, in the Souss Massa region in Morocco. This unique piece is actually an old "haik", the very long textile Amazigh women wrap themselves in. It is handcrafted, made of wool 100% and so finely woven you would think it is a canvas. The textile was then painted with henna, in a spontaneous gesture by an artist who multiplied the tributes to his Amazigh roots. Amongst trembling abstract designs you will spot a few Amazigh signs, what could be read as music instruments but are more probably mortars and pestles, ladders, six pointed stars, an animal (or human) figure...

I had the textile mounted on chassis as I thought it needed to be enhanced, as the piece of art it actually is.

The work is presented horizontally on the pictures and in my showroom in Marrakech but I guess it could be hung vertically on a high wall.
