Tuareg mats are handwoven by women of the Tuareg tribes of Mauritania. The base is made of natural palms and reed and decorated with intricate camel and goat leather strands.
These pieces are not exactly from Morocco but they have been used a lot to cover tents floors in the Sahara. And you already know how good they look in contemporary, eclectic interiors!!
This beautiful Tuareg mat shows a great, rich pattern with crosses, lines and diamonds in a caramel, light brown, natural leather color. Both extremities show a dicreet touch of red and green.
Approximate dimensions of this mat are 9.7x14feet / 297x425cm.
The mat has not been cut and will come in its original shape.
Please note that this item is real vintage, meaning that it has been made first for private use, not directly for the market. It will come with light signs of age, which make it unique and charming. That said, it is in excellent condition as you can probably tell from the pictures attached to the listing.
