This lovely vintage rug was sourced in the village of Aït Bouguemez, High Atlas, Morocco, located in an area called the Happy Valley. I am not surprised that this azilal rug comes from there as it shows such joyful colors and simple designs that look like small boxes and that are probably the traditional design for the "ladder", a recurrent masculine symbol. The main background color is a bright orange with black, red, blue, neon pink, green and yellow designs.
The rug is made of wool and cotton threads on a cotton base. It is a medium pile.
Approximate dimensions are 3.7x6.4feet (+6inches tassels) / 115x197cm (+15cm tassels). Due to the handmade weaving work, the rug is not perfectly rectangle, like most of the real vintage moroccan rugs. It has not been cut and comes in its original shape. Its small size makes it the perfect versatile you can move around the house, from the entryway to the bathroom or the kitchen.
Please note that this small rug is real vintage, meaning that it's been made first for private use, not directly for the market. It will come with signs of wear which make it unique and charming. That said, it has been fixed (see close-up pictrure #8) and cleaned and is in great vintage condition!
